about rico

Hi, I’m Rico Connolly and I’m a self-taught Maryland-based film photographer, musician (under the pseudonym “a brisk breeze”), graphic designer, artist, and ramen enthusiast. I’ve been making music and taking photos since 2012 but didn’t get into either professionally until 2018. I graduated from the University of Maryland, Baltimore County (cum laude) with a Bachelors of Fine Arts in Graphic Design in May of 2020. Among my other interests are programming, 3D design, videography, and skateboarding.

My personal philosophy is that photography should be an extension of the photographer and, in its own way, should reflect the human condition or what it means to be human. That is to say that, I believe true meaning and emotion are found in both imperfection and impermanence. This is one of the reasons I shoot on film instead of digitally. To me, film is a better way to represent what I see and imagine because I believe mistakes and imperfection are the epitome of life. I want my work to make you think, feel, ask, or answer.

Although these photos are mine, the ideas and inspiration that fuel my passion for photography are a result of the combined works of the thousands of brave artists and photographers around the world that share their work everyday. I give my utmost respect and thanks to these people because, through them, I’m constantly able to experience the world from a new perspective.

All images featured on this website have been shot by me and therefore I’d ask you to please abstain from using them without my explicit permission.
